IN RADIO LIFE MAGAZINE FROM JULY 18TH 1948-- MR. CHAPPELL STATES:
"I'M JUST AN ORDINARY FELLOW WHO GETS ALL BOLLIXED UP WITH THE SUPERNATURAL WEEK AFTER WEEK, AND I LOVE IT! HOW MANY HAVE SEEN 'MOTHER EARTH' UNDER THE COOPER MINES AT BUTTE, MONTANA, AND HOW MANY HAVE BEEN AT CALAIS TO WATCH ROBIN HOOD, FRIAR TUCK, LITTLE JOHN, WILL SCARLET AND ALL THE REST SHOOT ARROWS INTO GERMAN TANKS TO BLOW THEM UP? FOR THAT MATTER, HAS ANY CHARACTER LOOKED AT HIS REFLECTION IN THE MIRROR AND ORDERED IT TO DO HIS BIDDING AND GRANT HIS EVERY WISH? I DOUBT IT. AND COOPER, WHO FOR MY MONEY IS AHEAD OF HIS TIME IN INTELLIGENT, BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN ADULT RADIO STORIES. COOPER FIGURES THE PLAYS AND I CARRY THE BALL." HE IS REFERRING TO "RETREAT AT DUNKERQUE" WHICH AIRED ON SEPT. 3, 1947 ABOUT ROBIN HOOD AND HIS MERRY MEN. THIS WAS THE ONLY SHOW BROADCASTED LOCALLY ON WOR. IT IS STILL MISSING. NO SCRIPT HAS EVER BEEN FOUND.
Not sure how it acquired the title "Retreat at Dunkerque." According to the script, it was scheduled to air over the Mutual network on August 31 and over New York's WOR on September 1. Perhaps it was retitled for the rebroadcast.

Thanks for posting this. I hadn't seen it before.
The Robin Hood script exists under the title "A Ribbon of Lincoln Green." Astro1 posted it in this forum a few years ago:
